The Wisconsin Hotel & Lodging Association has inducted Ron McCord into the Wisconsin Lodging Hall of Fame. The association announced the induction in a notice dated 29 September 2026.
His daughter, Jennifer Church, accepted the honour on his behalf, the notice states. Church has served the association for many years and sits on its board.
The Sleepy Hollow Motel
McCord owned and operated the Sleepy Hollow Motel in Elm Grove for nearly three decades. He held five other lodging properties across Wisconsin and Texas.
The notice gives McCord more than 50 years of service in hotel brokerage and property ownership.
Chair of the Wisconsin Innkeepers Association
McCord chaired the Wisconsin Innkeepers Association. That body is now the Wisconsin Hotel & Lodging Association. The association's awards-lunch recap records the same office as a former presidency of the body.
National service
McCord served nearly a decade on the board of directors of the American Hotel & Lodging Association. He co-founded the AHLA Council of Inns & Suites.
He served two terms as president of Hotel Brokers International. That body gave him the Noah L. Canfield Distinguished Service Award and honorary lifetime membership, according to the notice.
The 2026 class
The association's recap of its Stars of the Industry Awards Lunch, held on 23 September 2026 in the Empire Ballroom at the Hilton Milwaukee, records the induction. The recap lists McCord In Memoriam and records that Church accepted the award and spoke about his legacy.
The class carries three names. Gerda Safer is listed In Memoriam. Daniel Schetter, general manager at the CopperLeaf Boutique Hotel & Spa and the Best Western Premier Waterfront Hotel & Convention Center, is the third.
The recap states that WHLA Board Chair Amy Boston led the induction ceremony. The Hall of Fame was established in 2021, according to the recap.
The recap names the 2026 WHLA Annual Conference & Trade Show. It runs 1–3 November 2026 at the Kalahari Resort in Wisconsin Dells.
