Ginger passes 100 operating hotels inside a 250-hotel IHCL book

IHCL reports 100 Ginger hotels operating in India inside a portfolio of 250, with 95 under development and 55 due to be rebranded by 31 March 2027.

A hundred Ginger hotels operating in India

IHCL reported on 29 September 2026 that its Ginger brand has passed 100 operating hotels in India. Ginger is IHCL's midscale brand, presented as a lean luxe offer under the brand promise "Simply Better". The brand pairs compact rooms with contemporary design and an all-day diner, Qmin, that doubles as a workspace.

Deepika Rao is Executive Vice President for the Select Service Business at IHCL. She called the operating count "a significant moment in the brand's journey towards achieving its Accelerate 2030 goals" and said the midscale segment is drawing demand as the country's infrastructure expands.

The portfolio IHCL reports

IHCL states that the Ginger portfolio stands at 250 hotels. The figure divides into 100 operating hotels, 95 under development and 55 under brand migration. The three parts sum to 250, and every portfolio count in this article comes from IHCL.

The 55 hotels under migration are to be rebranded by 31 March 2027. IHCL announced a separate 100-hotel Ginger figure in November 2024. That milestone measured the signed portfolio, and the September 2026 milestone measures operating hotels.

Where the next Ginger hotels land

Ginger names four airport properties in its pipeline. The list sets out a 325-key hotel at Bengaluru International Airport, a 300-key property at Manohar International Airport in Goa, a hotel above 200 keys at Mumbai Terminal 2 and a 200-key property at Kolkata Airport.

IHCL places these openings "soon" and publishes no month for any of the four. The key counts run from 200 to 325.

The development route behind the pipeline

Suma Venkatesh is Executive Vice President for Real Estate and Development at IHCL. She said the brand expands through a combination of operating leases, selective investments and strategic partnerships across India. She described the model as scalable and high-margin.

The 55 hotels under migration arrive through acquisitions. IHCL holds 51 percent stakes in ANK Hotels and Pride Hospitality. Asian Hospitality reported that more than 50 hotels across the two portfolios carry brand migration agreements and that 20 have migrated, including properties in Hyderabad, Jaipur, Agra and Vadodara. Rao said 45 percent of Ginger hotels, including the ANK and Pride properties, are managed, and that the balance is predominantly leased. She expects the split to hold near 60 to 40 between leased and managed hotels as the brand scales.

Keys added in 2026

IHCL has opened Ginger hotels through 2026. Its announcements cover Ginger Gurugram Sector 1 with 59 keys in January, Ginger Hyderabad Airport Road with 118 keys, Ginger Gadchiroli with 34 keys in June, Ginger Agra Fatehabad Road with 70 keys on 29 June, Ginger Goa Arpora with 77 keys on 22 September and Ginger Jorhat with 78 keys on 24 September. Ginger Siwan added 30 keys.

Asian Hospitality reported that IHCL plans Ginger hotels at Jorhat and Guwahati in Assam, Patna in Bihar, Kolhapur in Maharashtra and Kochi in Kerala during financial year 2027.

The revenue target the pipeline serves

Asian Hospitality reported in August 2026 that IHCL targets USD 315.1 million in enterprise revenue from Ginger by 2030. The same report gives USD 105 million for financial year 2027 and USD 85.5 million for the year before, with USD 32 million booked in the first quarter of financial year 2027.

Ginger sits inside the Accelerate 2030 strategy. The group target under that plan is 700 hotels by 2030.

The count that uses another base

Asian Hospitality reported Ginger at 260 hotels as of 31 July 2026, with 165 operational properties and 95 in the pipeline, citing The Economic Times. The IHCL Select Service Business release of August 2026 put the Ginger portfolio at 260 hotels.

The two operational figures rest on different bases. The 100 figure counts hotels trading under the Ginger brand. The 165 figure appears to take in the wider portfolio, including properties acquired with ANK Hotels and Pride Hospitality that still trade under other names. IHCL has published no statement that settles the gap.

The pipeline detail the release holds back

The announcement carries no investment value, no development cost and no opening month for the four airport projects. The 95 hotels under development arrive without a room count, a city list or a completion date. The 55 hotels under migration carry the 31 March 2027 rebrand date and no property list.

The pipeline lands on the record as counts and destinations. The owner names, the capital structure and the build timelines stay with IHCL.
