Hervé Fucho to lead Four Seasons' first Dominican Republic resort

Four Seasons appointed Hervé Fucho general manager of its Dominican Republic resort at Tropicalia, which opens in 2027 with 95 rooms and 25 private residences.

Four Seasons has appointed Hervé Fucho as general manager of Four Seasons Resort and Residences Dominican Republic at Tropicalia, the property the company will open on the country’s northeastern coast in 2027.

The resort is being developed by Cisneros Real Estate and sits along the shores of Playa Esmeralda. Four Seasons describes the design as tropical modernist, built so that guests engage with the natural environment around them.

Fucho arrives from Four Seasons Resort Tamarindo in Mexico, where he was resort manager and helped establish a sustainable farm that connected guests with local agricultural traditions. Four Seasons announced the appointment on 29 September 2026.

A career built inside Four Seasons

Fucho was born in Angouleme, France. He went to hospitality school, then worked at restaurants in England, Ireland and Germany before starting at Four Seasons.

He brings nearly three decades of experience across Four Seasons addresses on three continents. His career includes executive chef roles in Punta Mita and Hong Kong, where he oversaw Michelin-starred dining. Fucho later moved into resort operations at a former Four Seasons property in St. Petersburg, Russia. The Tamarindo posting followed.

Fucho on sustainability

Fucho set out the case for the move in the announcement. “What drew me to this property was the opportunity to create a luxury experience rooted in sustainability,” he said. “Protecting natural resources, supporting local communities and celebrating the unique beauty of each destination with guests are values that have guided my career, and I’m proud to bring them to life at this extraordinary resort.”

Chahwan on the appointment

Antoine Chahwan, president of hotel operations for the Americas at Four Seasons, said Fucho brings a combination of operational experience and a commitment to sustainability. “Throughout his Four Seasons career, he has consistently elevated the guest experience while inspiring teams, which makes him the ideal leader for our first property in the Dominican Republic,” Chahwan said.

Cisneros and the Tropicalia plan

Four Seasons frames the appointment around nearly two decades of stewardship by Cisneros along the Dominican coast. Tropicalia is designed as a destination where local culinary traditions, conservation and cultural heritage intertwine, in what Four Seasons calls an authentic sense of place.

“We are delighted to welcome Hervé to lead this flagship destination,” said Adriana Cisneros, chief executive of Cisneros. “His deep-rooted values in sustainability and operational excellence align perfectly with our vision for Tropicalia and our long-standing commitment to responsible development in the Dominican Republic.”

The resort taking shape

Brazilian architect Isay Weinfeld designed the resort. Four Seasons says it will hold 95 rooms and suites and 25 private residences, alongside wellness, recreation and dining amenities. Activities will include water sports, whale watching and sea turtle conservation, and guests can explore nearby Los Haitises National Park. The mountainside golf course will open later.

Tropicalia is a 60-acre private estate, equal to 24 hectares, of beaches, coral reefs, mountains, forests and lagoons. The working farm that serves the resort produces organic vegetables, honey, dairy and eggs.
