Shannon Craig leads Atura Oran Park as general manager

Atura Hotels appointed Shannon Craig general manager of Atura Oran Park alongside her area general manager role, as the 184-room hotel opens in October 2026.

Atura Hotels has appointed Shannon Craig as general manager of Atura Oran Park, adding the role to her responsibilities as area general manager for New South Wales. Travel Daily reported the appointment on 2 October 2026, citing its 25 August 2026 issue.

The 184-room hotel opens in October 2026.

Two decades across three markets

Craig brings more than two decades of hotel leadership experience with EVT Hotels & Resorts across Australia, New Zealand and the UK. Her career includes leadership roles at Rydges Wellington, QT Canberra and Rydges Kensington London.

Atura Hotels’ own announcement carries the fuller record. Craig was most recently general manager of Rydges Parramatta and area general manager for New South Wales, and her career has also included roles across the Rotorua region, Atura Adelaide Airport and the South Australia region, and Rydges Esplanade Resort Cairns.

The pre-opening phase

As area general manager, Craig is leading the property through its final pre-opening phase. Atura Hotels lists the work as overseeing the transition from development into operations, recruiting and training the hotel’s founding team, establishing service standards and systems, and building relationships across the local corporate, tourism and Camden communities.

Oran Park and the airport corridor

Atura Oran Park sits in South Western Sydney, about 20 minutes from Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) Airport. The airport is scheduled to begin operations in October 2026.

Craig said the chance to open a hotel in a region undergoing transformation decided the move. “South Western Sydney has transformed remarkably. Oran Park itself has gone from a semi-rural area, best known for its motorsport history, into a thriving town centre with new housing, retail and infrastructure,” she said.

She said the airport and continued investment across the region would create opportunities for the local visitor economy. “It will bring new business and leisure travellers into South Western Sydney, while continued investment is attracting more businesses and events to the area.”

The hotel

Atura Oran Park holds 184 rooms and suites. It brings together guest accommodation, an Italian-inspired restaurant and bar, conference and event space, a resort-style pool and a terrace. The hotel lists seven flexible events spaces that cater for up to 500 guests, including The Grandstand and the Pit Stop private dining room. The property is a partnership between the Perich family developers and EVT Hotels and Resorts.

Craig said the hotel is conceived as a social and hospitality hub for business and leisure travellers and for the local community. “There is a real sense of momentum here and our focus is on making sure Atura Oran Park becomes part of that community from day one,” she said.

Where Atura sits in the EVT portfolio
