Marriott names Alok Dixit to lead W Manchester
Marriott International appointed Alok Dixit as general manager of W Manchester and W Residences. Trade coverage carried the appointment on 14 October 2026. The remit covers the hotel and the branded residences in the same building.
The Pre-Opening Remit
Dixit takes the post as construction continues on the second phase of Relentless Developments’ St Michael’s scheme in Manchester city centre. W Manchester and W Residences is scheduled to open in 2027. Marriott states the arrival marks the introduction of the W Hotels brand in Manchester and expands the company’s luxury portfolio in the UK. The property becomes the third W Hotels site in the UK, following W London and W Edinburgh.
From Grosvenor Square
Dixit joins the project from London Marriott Hotel Grosvenor Square, where he led a transformation of the property and strengthened its position in Mayfair. His earlier roles include London Marriott Regents Park and The London EDITION, alongside senior commercial roles within Marriott. Marriott’s notice puts his hospitality leadership experience at more than 25 years.
The Tower the Appointment Covers
W Manchester and W Residences forms the second phase of St Michael’s, which Place North West reported as a £400m project delivered by Relentless Developments with Salboy. Place North West described the second phase as a 41-storey tower in October 2023. Coverage of the appointment in October 2026 describes a 43-storey tower. The scheme carries a 162-room five-star W hotel and 217 apartments operated as W Residences. The next 75,000 square feet of St Michael’s offices came to market in March 2026.

What the Notice Leaves Open
Marriott’s appointment notice names no reporting line for the post. It names no predecessor and sets no effective date beyond the announcement. It gives no team size and no commercial targets for the property. Dixit takes the role with the hotel and the residences still under construction.
