Meliá signs The Meliá Collection Rome
Meliá Hotels International agreed with Gruppo Stay to open The Meliá Collection Rome in 2027. The property is the brand's first hotel in the Italian capital. It will hold 67 rooms on Via XX Settembre, close to Via Veneto.
The hotel operates under a franchise model. It will carry a restaurant, a bar, a rooftop bar and a wellness area.
A third project for the two companies
Gruppo Stay and Meliá have signed two projects before this one. Those are Auronzo Dolomites Affiliated by Meliá and Pozza di Fassa Dolomiti Affiliated by Meliá.
Gabriel Escarrer, chairman and chief executive of Meliá Hotels International, said Rome is a key destination in the group's growth strategy for the luxury segment. Escarrer said Meliá enters the city with Gruppo Stay, a partner on two Italian projects.
Andrea Franceschi, founder and owner of Gruppo Stay, said the project expands the company's presence in urban hospitality. He put Rome among the most important destinations for the tourism industry.
Meliá's Italy count
Meliá has 19 hotels open or under development in Italy. The Rome hotel is its second property in the city.
The group lists more than 400 hotels across its portfolio and pipeline, in more than 40 countries, under nine brands.
Where the brand sits
Meliá describes The Meliá Collection as its luxury brand. The group's nine brands also include Gran Meliá Hotels & Resorts, ME by Meliá, Paradisus by Meliá, INNSiDE by Meliá and Affiliated by Meliá.
Gruppo Stay works on hotel projects in Italy. The release places the Rome agreement among its high-value developments in internationally known destinations.
