Oberoi Hotels and Resorts has published details of The Oberoi Sukoonvilas, Wadi Safar, a resort under development in Wadi Safar, west of Riyadh and about 30 minutes from the city.
The arrival date
The release schedules the first guests for the first quarter of 2027. Oberoi's own property page carries the line "Opening Late 2026" and lists the resort under Saudi Arabia as "Opening Soon". The company has published no month inside the first quarter.
What the resort will hold
The release states 60 standalone villas and 10 branded residences. The estate runs across more than 37 acres on a 70-metre escarpment. Aedas is the architect. Blink is the interior designer. Oberoi's own page describes private villas in Najdi design with high ceilings and natural light.
The destination
Wadi Safar sits inside the Diriyah region on the western edge of Riyadh. The release places the resort near At-Turaif in Diriyah. It calls Diriyah the birthplace of the First Saudi State. UNESCO inscribed the At-Turaif District in ad-Dir'iyah in 2010 on criteria (iv), (v) and (vi), and records the property at 28.78 hectares. Jerry Inzerillo, group chief executive officer of Diriyah Company, is quoted in the release.
Dining and wellness
The release names three restaurants. Yatra serves contemporary Indian food under Rohit Ghai, a Michelin-starred chef. Linnet covers pastries and cafe culture under Lily Vanilli. Beyla serves international cuisine. A fourth outlet serves poolside dining over the escarpment. Wellness runs under ASMI by Oberoi, with hammams, indoor wellness pools, a fitness facility and a 65-metre infinity pool. Oberoi's own page puts the banquet hall at up to 160 guests and two meeting rooms at 6 and 8 guests.
The quotes
Vikram Oberoi, chief executive officer of Oberoi Hotels and Resorts, said the resort has been conceived as a sanctuary of understated luxury. Jeremy Canivet, general manager of The Oberoi Sukoonvilas, Wadi Safar, said each experience is curated to immerse guests in the spirit of Wadi Safar. Inzerillo said the opening will mark an important milestone for Wadi Safar.
The supply it adds
The release states the resort will be the first hotel to open in Wadi Safar. Oberoi's destination menu lists Saudi Arabia with one entry, Wadi Safar. For a revenue or distribution team watching Riyadh, the bookable hotel inventory is 60 standalone villas. Ten further keys are branded residences, which sell on a different cycle from the hotel inventory.
