Six Nights With No Clock
The 30th TIAA Big Ten Conference Men's Basketball Tournament holds six consecutive dates at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, Tuesday 9 to Sunday 14 March 2027. The conference published the window on 7 August 2026 and states that tipoff times and television designations will be announced at a later date. The venue's event page carries six day rows with TBA against each.
A booking decision rests on the dates alone. No session clock, no session count and no attendance forecast is published.
The Two Edges of the Window
The conference schedule closes with four games on Sunday 7 March. Monday 8 March is the single night between the regular-season close and the Tuesday open. The tournament window holds six nights, and a guest staying through the Sunday championship departs on Monday 15 March.
Those two edges are the fence a revenue manager can price: one gap night ahead of the open, and a Monday checkout cluster behind the final.
The Rate Basis
Downtown Indianapolis averaged a $209.11 daily rate in the Downtown Indy Alliance snapshot that Bradford Allen published on 19 March 2026, with revenue per available room of $135.20, 13 percent up year on year, and occupancy of 64.7 percent against a U.S. average of 62.4 percent. The market recorded 8.1 million room nights of demand in the twelve months to mid-year 2025.
The competitive set is published. Visit Indy's connected-hotels page counts 12 hotels and 5,200 rooms connected to the Indiana Convention Center, with the 803-room Signia Hilton Indianapolis inside the count and the first advertised stay night there on 1 February 2027, 36 days before the tournament opens. The bureau places the arena three blocks from the convention center.
What Is Not on Sale
No room block, group rate or cut-off date is published for the tournament week. The conference's tournament information page carries no hotel or housing wording, and its travel, hotel and 2027 tournament paths each return 404. The tickets page lists the event beside a sign-up link and publishes no price.
Distribution runs through mobile. Tickets arrive in a mobile wallet, screenshots are not accepted at entry, and the box office in the Ascension St. Vincent Entry Pavilion accepts major credit cards.
The Terms a Guest Meets at the Door
The venue is cashless, and cash-to-card machines sit in the Entry Pavilion by the box office and at Sections 3, 19 and 210. Backpacks, hard-sided bags and any bag larger than 6 by 10 by 2 inches are refused, and oversized bags may be stored for a fee at the Hyatt Place Indianapolis Downtown Valet Bell Services Desk, 130 S. Pennsylvania St. Door opening times vary by event, with a 90-minute pre-tip window published for Fever games only.
