The block
The American Northwest - Portland - Nationals - DI/DII runs December 5 and 6, 2026 in Hall D at the Oregon Convention Center. Doors open at 8:00 a.m. on both mornings. The venue's event record ends the block at 8:00 p.m. on December 6. The booking holds the building for 36 hours.
The venue labels the two days "Sunday, December 5" and "Monday, December 6". December 5, 2026 is a Saturday. The dates and the weekday labels disagree on the page.
The event is a 400-point competition in The Varsity Cheer League. Teams travel with coaches, judges and families, and the venue page asks for registration from every competitor.
Two mornings, two breakfast services
The building's parking garage opens at 6:00 a.m. daily. Doors open at 8:00 a.m. On November 8 the venue's Eat Now roster listed six open outlets of eleven, and the earliest clock was Portland Coffee Roasters in Pre-Function C at 7:30 a.m.
The roster offers dates from November 7 to November 14 at this read. The December 5 and 6 hours are not posted.
A hotel that sells breakfast to this block serves before 7:30 a.m. and puts the guest at the door by 8:00 a.m. That shift runs on both mornings, and the second one follows a night the guest spends in the room.
The second morning decides the checkout
A one-night booking covers December 5 and ends on the morning of December 6. The guest leaves the room while the block still runs to 8:00 p.m.
That checkout releases the room at the standard hour. The guest still needs a place to change and store a bag through the afternoon.
The property holds three choices. Sell the room again for the night of December 6. Hold it for the guest through the afternoon at a late-checkout price. Release it at noon and lose the afternoon.
The block also puts a housekeeping shift against a 9 a.m. departure and a second room-turn against the same corridor. Two breakfast services and one midday turn come out of one booking.
Who staffs the building
Levy holds the food contract. Chef Allan Wambaa leads the account, and Levy's director of sales and marketing for the building is Andie Cuttiford, at 503-688-8696. The two Portland Coffee Roasters cafés serve organic coffee, bakery goods, oatmeal breakfasts, yogurt and sandwiches. Stir Bistro runs full service in the MLK Lobby.
Nikki Simmons, senior director of event operations, runs the building at 503-731-7864. The venue staffs 24-hour building security and a staffed first aid room. Metro, the regional government, employs the building staff, and its First Opportunity programme sits in the hiring path.
The room supply inside walking range
Thirteen named hotels sit within 1,200 metres of 777 NE Martin Luther King Jr Boulevard, measured in a straight line on OpenStreetMap data on November 8, 2026.
The two closest sit on the same street as the entrance: Inn at the Convention Center, 420 NE Holladay Street, at 225 metres, and the Hyatt Regency, 375 NE Holladay Street, at 242 metres.
Four more sit inside 700 metres: Hotel Eastlund at 281 metres, Quality Inn at 424, Courtyard at 497 and Crowne Plaza at 595.
The entry in the event record links team housing to a partner site and carries no block rate.
What the revenue team puts in writing
Ask the organiser for the Sunday end time and the competitor count. Ask the venue for the December 5 and 6 outlet hours. Set the Sunday checkout policy before the block goes on sale, and price the late checkout against the room the property would otherwise hold empty through the afternoon.
