Who Staffs a 15-Block Festival? Kiwanis Volunteers

Calle Ocho works 15 blocks of Little Havana on Sunday 14 March 2027 with a Kiwanis volunteer body and five published paid roles. The clocks and the two addresses a hotel rota can copy.

Fifteen blocks, one credential tent

Calle Ocho Music Festival runs Sunday 14 March 2027, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., across SW 12th to 27th Avenue. A volunteer body works the route. The organiser states that Carnaval Miami is powered by volunteers of the Kiwanis Club of Little Havana, and that proceeds benefit the Kiwanis of Little Havana Foundation's youth development programmes. The events listing names the 49th annual edition.

The site names one credential point for the length of the route. Passport holders collect passes and drink tickets at the Kiwanis Registration Tent, which stands on the Miami Dade College surface lot at 2501 SW 6th Street, at 6th Street and 27th Avenue. The tent opens at 12:30 p.m., 4 p.m. is last call, and the passport window runs 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. The parking page names a second site, the lot at 2620 SW 5th Street, Miami, FL 33135.

Two addresses serve two jobs inside one volunteer-run operation. Split the two the same way on a hotel rota: one site for credentials, one for vehicles.

Five paid roles front the series

The about page names five staff roles and one email address for each. The Community and Development Manager holds the sponsorship contact and answers on Nrroig@kiwanislittlehavana.org. The other four are Director of Marketing and Promotions, Foundation Administrator, Office Manager and Administrative Assistant.

The series home page reports an average of one million attendees a year. Five published paid roles sit in front of the volunteer body that works 15 street blocks. No page states how many volunteers that takes, how long a shift runs, how many people work one block, or when a briefing happens.

What the club publishes about its volunteer base

The Kiwanis Club of Little Havana describes itself as an affiliate of Kiwanis International, formed in 1975, and the oldest Latin, continuously meeting club in the United States. Members volunteer thousands of hours each year, the page states, across holiday giving, scholarship grants, a youth summer camp, back-to-school programmes and the events of Carnaval Miami.

The same page lists what Carnaval Miami has helped the club provide. The lines include 50,000 Key Club volunteers, 1,000 undergraduate scholarships to a public university or college, 12,000 campers at a free summer camp, 25,000 families served during the holidays, and 200,000 backpacks filled with school supplies. The Foundation was established in 1987 to assist the financially underserved Hispanic youth of Miami-Dade County.

Read that list as a retention record. It counts the outputs of a volunteer body across decades: hours served, scholarships funded, campers hosted. A property building a seasonal crew can measure its own retention against counts of that kind.

The vendor side has no published window

The 2027 vendor application is marked COMING SOON on the Calle Ocho page, beside the 2027 passport. No page publishes a vendor fee, a stall count, an application deadline or a load-in time. Food at the festival comes from local restaurants, listed on the passport page as Latin food and drink samples from Little Havana restaurants.

State that gap in any placement plan. A property that wants a restaurant partner or a food truck on its own patio on 14 March has no published deadline to work back from. The published contact route is the club office at 1400 SW 1st Street, Miami, FL 33135, by phone on (305) 644-8888 or by email at info@carnavalmiami.com.

Four practices a rota can carry

One: one credential point with a published last call. The tent opens at 12:30 p.m. and closes the queue at 4 p.m. A briefing desk that names its own start and its own last call gives agency staff the same certainty.

Two: keep the credential site and the parking site apart, and print both addresses on the same sheet. The festival publishes 2501 SW 6th Street for the tent and 2620 SW 5th Street for the lot.

Three: name the beneficiary in the briefing. Every page of this event states that proceeds fund the Foundation's youth programmes.

Four: date the briefing to the day's first clock. For Calle Ocho that clock is 11 a.m. A Sunday shift serving that crowd needs its brief before the open and its handover before the 7 p.m. close.

Staff a Sunday, then a Saturday

Fourteen March 2027 falls on a Sunday, and the events listing dates Calle Ocho for that day. Saturday 13 March carries the 44th annual Domino Tournament at Domino Park, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Roster the two days apart. Saturday's work sits around a 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. tournament. Sunday's work sits around an 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. festival, with a 12:30 p.m. credential opening and a 4 p.m. last call. One brief written for both days will misstate one clock.
