Hyatt names its first chief creative officer

Hyatt Hotels Corporation has appointed Amar Lalvani as its first chief creative officer. The title is added to his role as president and creative director of the company's Lifestyle Group, effective immediately.

Lalvani stays on Hyatt's senior leadership team and continues to report to Mark Hoplamazian, chairman, president and chief executive officer.

A remit across the portfolio

Hyatt states Lalvani will work across its global portfolio to sharpen what each brand stands for and how it comes to life through design, experience and culture. The work involves leaders, developers, creative teams and hotel owners. Hyatt states the aim is to connect brand thinking more directly to the experiences guests see, feel and remember.

Hoplamazian set out the reasoning for the appointment. "Amar has a rare ability to uncover what is distinctive, understand what matters to people and turn those insights into experiences and brands that resonate," he said. "As we continue to evolve Hyatt into a more brand-focused company, bringing that perspective across the enterprise is a natural next step."

"Great brands are built through thousands of choices, from the buildings we create to the experiences our colleagues deliver every day," Hoplamazian said. "Amar will help us make decisions with greater clarity and conviction, while keeping creativity close to the teams bringing each brand to life."

From The Standard to the Lifestyle Group

Lalvani joined Hyatt in 2024 after the company acquired Standard International. He was named president and creative director of the newly established Lifestyle Group and brought the team behind The Standard and Bunkhouse Hotels, which became the group's foundation.

Hyatt states Lalvani has spent more than 25 years in hospitality. He led global development for W Hotels earlier in his career, acquired The Standard brand and formed Standard International, expanded it through Bunkhouse Hotels, and created The StandardX and The Manner.

"I have been moved by Hyatt's purpose: we care for people so they can be their best," said Lalvani. "The opportunity now is to make that care more distinct, relevant and memorable through each of our brands."
