IHG signs 180 keys in Yogyakarta for a 2029 opening

IHG Hotels & Resorts signed Hotel Indigo Yogyakarta with the Indonesian developer PT Raka Eka Makmur. The release is dated 7 October 2026 from Yogyakarta. The hotel carries 180 keys, opens in 2029, and is IHG's first property in the city.

The inventory the hotel will sell

The hotel holds approximately 740 square metres of meeting and event space, with a ballroom and multiple meeting rooms. That space is the group inventory the property takes into a city whose demand case the release ties to Borobudur, one of Indonesia's five Super Priority Destinations, and to arrivals through Yogyakarta International Airport. The other facilities are an all-day dining restaurant, a rooftop bar and terrace, a swimming pool, a fitness centre and a spa.

Chris Anklin, IHG's senior director of development for South East Asia and Korea, ties the signing to demand in destinations with local character. Ronny Pallar, president director of PT Raka Eka Makmur, names Borobudur and Prambanan, both UNESCO World Heritage sites, as the draw for guests.

Distribution: a third Indonesian city becomes the fourth

IHG operates three Hotel Indigo hotels in Indonesia, at Bali Seminyak Beach, Bandung and Bintan. Six more sit in the pipeline across Bali, Jakarta and Lombok, and Yogyakarta becomes the brand's fourth Indonesian destination when it opens. IHG operates 35 hotels across nine brands in Indonesia and holds 13 more properties in the country's pipeline. IHG One Rewards, the group's loyalty programme, carries more than 160 million members.

The booking window stays closed

The signing carries no rate, no package and no booking window. IHG gives the opening year as 2029 and publishes no month, no construction start and no opening quarter. The agreement states no management term, so the route to market for the 180 keys is unpublished.

What the release leaves open

The release carries no investment figure, no owner contribution and no financing detail. It states no occupancy, no average rate and no revenue-per-available-room figure for Yogyakarta, and no comparison with the Indonesian cities where the brand already trades. The 180 keys and the 740 square metres of event space are the only quantities attached to the project.
