Kempinski Group names Andrea Vanni chief financial officer
Kempinski Group has appointed Andrea Vanni chief financial officer. The group announced the appointment from Dubai on 30 September 2026, and presents the move as part of its brand and business transformation strategy.
Vanni brings more than 25 years of experience in the European luxury real estate industry. He has served on the board of Kempinski A.G. for more than three years, and the announcement treats that tenure as continuity for the finance role.
A finance career across banking and development
Vanni's experience spans debt and equity capital solutions for the real estate sector. He held senior roles at J.P. Morgan and Deutsche Bank before founding his own real estate finance and development companies, focused on luxury real estate and hospitality.
The announcement states that over the course of his career as a founder he has completed more than €20bn of transactions across debt, equity and development.
Nijhof sets out the owner-returns agenda
René Nijhof, chairman of the board of directors of Kempinski Hotels S.A., framed the appointment around owner returns, the group's financial framework and its growth pipeline.
"As a valued member of our Supervisory Board and a recognised authority in real estate investment and development, Andrea is keenly attuned to driving profitability for owners and investors," Nijhof said. "His appointment will strengthen our financial framework, enhancing the performance of our hotels and delivering returns for our owners, which remain central to our strategy. Simultaneously, he will enable growth opportunities across targeted acquisitions, management contracts, branded residences and brand debuts in priority and emerging markets."
Existing assets first
Vanni said the next phase of the group's growth strategy will prioritise existing assets, improving the quality of the product and service portfolio while seeking returns for owners and investors.
"We are privileged to have partners who are deeply engaged with our brand heritage and entrust us with their landmark assets across the world," Vanni said. "Together, we have built a robust brand portfolio that is true both to Kempinski's storied history and our growth-forward trajectory. Our priority is to continue to build on these partnerships, deliver consistent performance and as we continue to bring Kempinski to new destinations alongside new partners who share our ambition."
Portfolio and pipeline
At the announcement Kempinski said it operates 74 properties in 33 countries, with more than 20 projects under development. The group described the appointment as an internal one and as an organic step in its strategic development.
