Wildhive Eshott Hall names Ewan Taylor general manager

Wildhive Eshott Hall has appointed Ewan Taylor as general manager ahead of the Northumberland hotel's opening in December 2026. The announcement is dated 30 September 2026.

Taylor joins from Oriental Residence Bangkok, where he was general manager. His career spans almost two decades in luxury hospitality across South East Asia.

Openings and repositioning

Taylor has opened and repositioned hotels across the region. Two collaborators from that work appear in the announcement: the designer Bill Bensley and the Michelin-starred chef Nicholas Isnard.

Travel + Leisure named him one of the top five hotel general managers in Cambodia at its 2024 Luxury Awards Asia Pacific.

The pre-opening remit

Taylor will lead the pre-opening team and oversee recruitment, training and operational set-up. On opening he takes the day-to-day running of the hotel and the management of its heads of department.

The quotes

Taylor said: "I'm delighted to be joining Wildhive Eshott Hall after almost 20 years working in Asia. It's a house with real character in a beautiful corner of Northumberland, and opening it with a team who care as much as this one does is a rare opportunity. I'm looking forward to welcoming our first guests."

Ed Burrows, managing director of The Wildhive Collection, added: "Ewan's career has been built on the same values as The Wildhive Collection's reputation and he brings real experience of hotel openings. His background in a boutique group will be valuable as The Wildhive Collection expands."

The property

Wildhive Eshott Hall sits at Morpeth, Northumberland, NE65 9EN. The hotel's own site describes a Georgian country house hotel within 37 acres of gardens and ancient woodland.

House bedrooms and the Woodmans Cabins can be booked from 1 December 2026. The Stables, the Foresters Bothy and the wellbeing facilities, including three treatment rooms, follow in early 2027. The Wildhive Collection also runs Callow Hall in Derbyshire.
