Nobu plans a 50-room hotel and restaurant in San Juan
Nobu Hospitality has announced Nobu Hotel and Restaurant San Juan, the brand's first property in Puerto Rico, scheduled to open in 2028.
The hotel will hold 50 rooms. The plan places a signature Nobu restaurant and bar at street level, with a rooftop lounge and bar above. The announcement is dated 30 September 2026 and places the hotel in "one of the region's most storied neighborhoods". It names no street, building or district.
The project is developed with KTT.
The quotes
Trevor Horwell, chief executive of Nobu Hospitality, said: "Puerto Rico has long been one of the Caribbean's most compelling destinations, celebrated for its rich history, vibrant culture, and exceptional hospitality."
Horwell added: "Bringing the Nobu Hotel and Restaurant to San Juan allows us to become part of one of the region's most storied neighborhoods while introducing our distinctive approach to hospitality in a destination that continues to attract discerning travelers from around the world."
Joakim Lehmkuhl, managing partner of KTT, said: "Few places in the Caribbean combine culture, history, and energy the way San Juan does. Nobu saw the same thing, and that shared understanding is what makes this work." He added: "This reflects the kind of investment we believe the city deserves."
The brand platform
Nobu Hospitality operates hotels, restaurants and residences. Its anniversary page states a trajectory to reach 40 hotels by year-end and 10 residential projects in development.
The brand grew from the Nobu restaurant that opened in Manhattan in 1994, through a partnership between the chef Nobu Matsuhisa, Robert De Niro and Meir Teper. The first Nobu Hotel opened at Caesars Palace in 2013. The first residential project was unveiled in Toronto in 2017, where the company says all 650 residences sold within 90 days. The brand's hotel collection lists San Juan under the Americas as "coming soon".
