Trigon Hotels marked 20 team members who hold a combined 210 years of service at its Long Service Awards at the Cork International Hotel on 24 September 2026.

Trigon Hotels honours 20 staff for 210 years of service

Trigon Hotels has marked 20 team members who hold a combined 210 years of service with the group. The Long Service Awards were held at the Cork International Hotel on Thursday 24 September 2026.

The group runs the Metropole Hotel in Cork city and the Cork International Hotel.

Valerie Lynch leads on 35 years

Valerie Lynch, who works in public areas at the Metropole, holds the longest tenure at 35 years. Esther O'Neill, in accommodation at the Metropole, holds 30 years.

Monika Werner, in accommodation management at the Cork International Hotel, and Marta Marcinkowska, accommodation manager at the Metropole, each hold 20 years.

The other 16 recipients hold five, ten or 15 years. The group's notice names them by property.

Cork International Hotel: Caroline Ballard, five years; Catherine O'Mahony, 15 years; Daniel Healy, five years; Elaine Murphy, five years; John Nugent, five years; and Sophie Curtin, five years.

Metropole Hotel: Alex Buckley, five years; Darija Tjannikova, five years; Joanna O'Donovan, five years; John O'Mahony, ten years; Lee Dawn (Hayley) Ramsey, five years; and Nicole Calka, ten years.

Trigon Hotel Group shared services: Richard O'Brien, five years; Sandra Murphy, ten years; Denis Hurley, five years; and Derek Lee, five years.

Kathleen Linehan on hospitality careers

Kathleen Linehan, group strategic director of human resources at Trigon, said: "The Trigon Hotel Long Service Awards are hugely important to the group as it offers us an opportunity to celebrate the team members who have given years of dedication and commitment to their respective hotels and colleagues."

She added: "It is often assumed that hospitality is a transient industry but these colleagues demonstrate that it can provide fulfilling careers on a long-term basis with an opportunity for progression and a genuine sense of belonging."

The two Cork hotels

Trigon Hotels describes itself as a collection of four-star hotels in Cork. The Metropole's own site dates its hospitality to 1897 and places the hotel on MacCurtain Street in the city's Victorian Quarter. The Cork International Hotel sits in the Cork Airport Business Park, beside Cork Airport, and runs a complimentary shuttle to the terminal.
