Solmar Hotels & Resorts Names Mauricio Salicrup Chief Executive

Solmar Hotels & Resorts appointed Mauricio Salicrup chief executive officer and Michel Albahari director of operations on 17 September 2026, inside a US$6 million Los Cabos investment programme.

Two Appointments and One Structure

Solmar Hotels & Resorts appointed Mauricio Salicrup as chief executive officer and Michel Albahari as director of operations. The company announced both appointments on 17 September 2026 from Los Cabos, Mexico. The release states the structure strengthens the group's corporate governance model and supports the growth strategy it is building for the years ahead.

The group dates its operation to 1974 and describes itself as a pioneer of Baja California Sur hospitality. Its release states that the two executives carry the legacy of one of the founding families of tourism in Los Cabos.

The Portfolio the Two Executives Run

The group operates six hotels: Grand Solmar Land's End Resort & Spa, Grand Solmar Pacific Dunes Resort Golf & Spa, Playa Grande Resort & Grand Spa, The Ridge at Playa Grande, Solmar Resort and Grand Solmar The Residences. Grand Solmar Pacific Dunes holds Solmar Golf Links, a course the group's own site credits to Greg Norman as designer.

Salicrup leads the group's overall strategy. The release credits him with more than 35 years in the tourism industry and more than three decades in executive roles at Mexican and international companies. Albahari holds service standards and operating efficiency across every property in the group.

Both executives gave statements. Salicrup said: "It is an honor to take on the leadership of a company that has helped shape the history of tourism in Los Cabos." He said the commitment is to build on a legacy more than five decades in the making. Albahari said: "Our main goal is to keep raising the service standards that define Solmar Hotels & Resorts." He said the work will optimize every operating process and bring in best practices.

The Investment Programme Behind the Growth Strategy

The appointments sit inside a capital programme the company announced earlier in 2026. Solmar states a US$6 million investment across its Los Cabos portfolio. The stated scope covers new accommodations, guest room renovations and energy-efficient infrastructure upgrades.

Grand Solmar Pacific Dunes carries the largest stated addition. The release puts an expansion at that property on a 2027 completion date and says it will add five-bedroom villas and penthouse-style suites. The property's own accommodation list runs from a one-bedroom Grand Master Suite to a Two-Bedroom Presidential Suite and penthouses of two, three and four bedrooms. The page states no 2027 addition.

Work at Playa Grande Resort and at Grand Solmar Land's End covers renovated rooms, refreshed public spaces, upgraded amenities and energy optimization systems. The release gives no completion date for either property.

The release also states a culinary programme of four fine dining restaurants. The group's restaurant page lists venues across the six properties and does not total them at four.

The Title in the Trade Coverage

The release names Albahari director of operations. Hotel Management headlined its 16 September 2026 item "New CEO, COO at Solmar Hotels & Resorts", and a Yahoo Finance item read "Solmar Hotels & Resorts Names New CEO and COO". Hospitality Net published its item on 16 September under "Michel Albahari has been appointed as Director of Operations at Solmar Hotels & Resorts".

Salicrup's Sector Seats

The release lists board and committee roles beside the operating record. Salicrup served on the board of the Los Cabos Hotel Association for eight years and advises its presidency. He is technical secretary of the Los Cabos Tourism Board (FITURCA), a member of the Baja California Sur State Tourism Board (FITUES), and he represents Los Cabos on Mexico's National Tourism Business Council (CNET).

FITURCA's own directorio lists no Salicrup, and the board's committee minutes are image-only files. The four roles stand as the company's statement.

The Claims That Rest on One Source

Four figures in the release appear in the release alone among the coverage located for this article: the US$6 million investment, the 2027 Pacific Dunes expansion, the four fine dining restaurants, and the 35-year and three-decade career records. Newswire carried a separate item in May 2024 titled "Solmar Hotels & Resorts Celebrates 50 Years of Luxury Hospitality Excellence". Fifty years before 2024 places the founding year at 1974, which matches the group's own "since 1974" line.

The release closes on the growth chapter. It states the group aims to strengthen its standing among Mexico's hotel groups and to keep contributing to the economic and social development of Los Cabos.
