Cedar Court closes a six-year capital programme
Cedar Court Hotels has completed a GBP 10 million investment programme across its Yorkshire hotels. The programme ran six years. The work covers fully refurbished bedrooms, redesigned public areas, enhanced meeting spaces and repurposed leisure facilities.
Managing director Wayne Topley gave the programme its six-year frame. The York Press carried his words on 15 October 2026. "We've taken a six-year look at what Cedar Court needs to be for the next generation of guests, our teams, and the communities we operate in," he said.
He put the trading history into the same release. "Cedar Court has been part of the county's hospitality space for more than 25 years, and this is about securing its place here for decades to come," he said.
Where the GBP 10 million went
Cedar Court Harrogate took the launch of Amber's Restaurant. The group states the restaurant serves hotel guests and the wider community.
Cedar Court Bradford carries 15 meeting rooms and a capacity of up to 800 delegates, on the group's own meetings page. The hotel also holds 300 car parking spaces. It sits minutes from junction 26 of the M62.
Cedar Court Huddersfield carries 15 meeting rooms and a capacity of up to 400 delegates. Its meetings page lists the Halifax Suite at up to 120 guests and the Yorkshire Suite at up to 300 delegates with a private bar. The Dugout, the hotel's sports bar, is offered as meeting space.
The group's Harrogate events page carries that hotel's room set. The Queens Suite takes up to 220 guests. The Imaginarium takes up to 32 guests.
The sustainability line inside the budget
About GBP 750,000 of the programme went on solar panels. The release adds energy sensors, more efficient hot and cold water systems and improved waste management to the same package.
The group's green policy page states a figure for a wider scope. The page records "an investment of over half a million pounds in the last two years" across its sustainability work. It lists solar panels at the Bradford and Wakefield sites, electric vehicle charging live at Bradford, and an LED lighting upgrade throughout. The page carries no date stamp.
The release attributes GBP 750,000 to solar panels alone. The green policy page attributes more than half a million pounds to the sustainability programme as a whole.
The next tranche
The release names two further workstreams for the capital programme. More bedroom upgrades are planned. Underused meeting spaces will be converted into flexible leased accommodation for nearby businesses.
That second item turns part of the conference estate into recurring income from local tenants. The group's meetings pages sell the conference spaces on their flexibility for corporate events. A leased floor carries a term the group sets.
Topley said the programme continues. "While completing this programme is an important moment for Cedar Court, it isn't the finish line," he said. "We're continuing to invest, continuing to improve, and continuing to look at how our hotels can play a bigger role in the communities around them."
The award record behind the guest story
Cedar Court Harrogate and Cedar Court Huddersfield both hold Tripadvisor Travellers' Choice Awards for 2026. The group's own post on the award carries an 11 June 2026 date. It places both hotels in the top 10 per cent of hospitality businesses worldwide, on guest reviews and ratings from the previous 12 months. The York Press dates the recognition to January 2026.
Topley tied the award to the work in the group's post. "To see both Harrogate and Huddersfield recognised among the top 10% of hotels worldwide is a fantastic achievement," he said.
How many hotels the programme covers
The portfolio count moves between the group's own pages. Its about page names Wakefield, Bradford, Huddersfield and Harrogate and calls the group "Yorkshire's leading independent hotel collection". That page claims "over 35 years" of trading. Its hotels page lists "three convenient locations across Yorkshire, in Bradford, Harrogate and Huddersfield". The site footer and the booking selector both carry four.
The green policy page names solar panels at the Bradford and Wakefield sites and counts "four substantial sites" with around 300 employees. The October release names Harrogate, Bradford and Huddersfield. Wakefield sits inside the group's estate pages.
Topley gave the trading history its own number. He put the group in the county's hospitality space for more than 25 years. The about page claims over 35 years.
