Choice Hotels Holds Its Dividend on a 661,089-Room Estate

Choice Hotels declared $0.2875 a share on 17 September 2026 against the 7,608 hotels and 661,089 rooms its franchise system reports, with no RevPAR or occupancy figure in the release.

The declaration

Choice Hotels International declared a quarterly cash dividend of $0.2875 per share on its common stock. The board approved the declaration, and the company released it from North Bethesda, Maryland, on 17 September 2026. Payment falls on 15 October 2026 to holders of record on 1 October 2026. The shares trade on the New York Stock Exchange under CHH.

The release describes the company as a lodging franchisor on an asset-light model.

Fifteen payments at the same rate

The $0.2875 rate has carried for fifteen consecutive quarterly payments, from the March 2023 ex-dividend date through the 1 October 2026 date, on the S&P Global Market Intelligence dividend record. The prior rate was $0.2375.

The estate the payment draws on

Choice's Form 10-Q for the quarter ended 30 June 2026 was filed with the SEC on 5 August 2026. It counts 7,608 hotels with 661,089 rooms open and operating, and a pipeline of 841 hotels with 77,275 rooms under construction, awaiting conversion, approved for development or committed to future franchise development.

The filing describes the company as primarily a hotel franchisor, operating in 49 states, the District of Columbia and 49 countries and territories. Its Hotel Franchising & Management segment covers 22 brands and brand extensions, plus the management of 13 hotels, four of them owned.

The same filing projects the 2026 annual dividend rate at $1.15 per share, or approximately $52.3 million in aggregate payments. Four payments of $0.2875 make $1.15. The company paid $26.3 million in cash dividends in the first half of 2026. It repurchased 0.9 million shares in the same period. As of 30 June 2026, 1.8 million shares remained under the repurchase authorization.

The revenue behind the payment

Total revenues were $781.3 million in the first half of 2026, against $759.3 million a year earlier. The Hotel Franchising & Management segment booked $717.2 million of that figure and $407.7 million in the second quarter alone.

Net income was $84.6 million for the half, against $126.3 million in the prior-year period. Second-quarter net income was $64.3 million.

What the declaration leaves out

The release carries no figure for revenue per available room, average daily rate, occupancy or franchisee room revenue. Its boilerplate counts more than 7,500 hotels and more than 650,000 rooms across 22 brands.

The SEC's EDGAR record for Choice carries no Form 8-K dated 17 September 2026. Its newest entries are Form 4 ownership statements dated 1 September 2026 and Form 8-K reports dated 31 and 28 August 2026.

The 10-Q states that the restated credit agreement bars a dividend declaration while an event of default exists, and bars any payment that would create one. The media site's footer reads "over 7,400 properties worldwide" from a data node dated 17 June 2025. The release body reads over 7,500 hotels.
