IHG adds six Greater China markets to Vignette Collection

IHG's October 15 release names six Greater China markets adding Vignette Collection hotels this year and eight named properties across three brand hallmarks.

Six markets and eight named hotels

IHG Hotels & Resorts published its Vignette Collection update for Greater China on 15 October 2026, under a Shanghai dateline. The release names six markets that add hotels this year: Chengdu, Chongqing, Shanghai, Beidaihe, Qiandao Lake and Sanya. The Hari Hong Kong carries an addition outside that list, and the release calls it a recent addition.

Vignette Collection sits inside IHG's Luxury & Lifestyle portfolio. The release names eight properties, sorted under three brand hallmarks.

The markets IHG counts

Chongqing takes TFT Chongqing. Shanghai carries two named hotels, THE ONE Shanghai Downtown and Shanghai Snow World Hotel. Beidaihe takes Resea Hotel Beidaihe. Chengdu takes Palm Springs Hotel Chengdu.

Two of the six markets carry no named hotel. The release counts Qiandao Lake and Sanya among this year's additions and publishes no property at either.

Three named properties sit outside the six-market list. The Hari Hong Kong and WM Hotel Hong Kong are in Hong Kong. The Azure Ningbo is in Ningbo.

Three hallmarks, eight properties

IHG frames the collection on three hallmarks: One-of-a-Kind Stays, Memorable Rituals and A Means for Good. Two named properties illustrate the first, three the second and three the third.

One-of-a-Kind Stays leaves each hotel its own identity, style and story. TFT Chongqing works from the city's identity as the Bridge City and its position above the confluence of two rivers. Bridge forms run through the interiors, the room keys, a themed afternoon tea and a set of story cards. THE ONE Shanghai Downtown draws on the city's Art Deco heritage in its architecture and interiors. A collaboration with a local art centre directs guests toward the city's creative scene.

Memorable Rituals puts a signature moment into each property. At Shanghai Snow World Hotel a bell rings to open an apres-ski gathering beside an electric fireplace, and the hotel runs introductory sessions for first-time skiers. Resea Hotel Beidaihe turns the first light over the sea into a scheduled guest moment. Palm Springs Hotel Chengdu runs hands-on activities around Shu embroidery and fragrance-making.

A Means for Good covers the community work. The Hari Hong Kong sits in Wan Chai and runs The Hari Art Prize for emerging Hong Kong-based artists. WM Hotel Hong Kong is a waterfront property in Sai Kung, and it has organised a beach clean-up at Sha Ha Beach with a local non-profit international school. The Azure Ningbo turns coffee grounds and food waste into compost for its gardens.

Rita Jiang on the guest case

Rita Jiang, Chief Commercial & Marketing Officer for Greater China at IHG Hotels & Resorts, supplied the release's only quotation. "Luxury travellers today are increasingly looking for personalised experiences that reflect their interests and leave a lasting impression," she said. "We believe every hotel has its own character, and every destination has a story worth discovering."

Jiang placed the growth on the guest side of the portfolio. "Vignette Collection celebrates the individuality of its hotels and their connections to local culture, lifestyles and communities, offering guests experiences that go beyond the stay," she said. "As the collection grows, we hope to inspire more guests to explore and collect stories of their own."

The scale IHG dates

IHG's own Madrid release of 29 September 2026 puts Vignette Collection at 38 open hotels with a further 46 in the pipeline as of 30 June 2026. The Greater China release restates the collection's size in its About block and attaches no as-of date to it.

IHG states that the brand has passed the halfway point toward an initial aim of 100 hotels within its first ten years. The 38 open hotels and 46 in the pipeline give 84 properties against that 100. The brand launched in 2021.

A recent addition and its dates

The release calls The Hari Hong Kong a recent addition and supplies no date for the switch. IHG announced in August 2026 that three Harilela Group hotels would join the collection. Trade carriers dated the Hong Kong hotel's move to 28 September 2026.

The Hari Art Prize is the contribution the release states for the hotel. It publishes no room count for the property and no ownership detail.

The owner proposition

IHG describes the model as a route for owners of independent hotels. The About block states that the brand lets an owner keep a hotel's character, style and name while drawing on IHG's enterprise platform and global scale. All eight named hotels carry their own trading names.

What the release leaves out

No room count, investment figure, opening date or ownership is published for the six markets that add hotels this year. The release attaches no opening date to Shanghai Snow World Hotel, WM Hotel Hong Kong or The Azure Ningbo.

The release uses two descriptors for the brand. The body calls Vignette Collection IHG's first luxury collection brand. The About block shortens the phrase to its first collection brand.

The group behind the brand

The release's About IHG block puts the company at 21 hotel brands, more than 7,100 hotels and more than one million rooms across over 100 countries, with a development pipeline of 2,400 properties. IHG One Rewards carries more than 160 million members, and about 400,000 people work across IHG's hotels and corporate offices.

Vignette Collection sits in the Luxury & Lifestyle group alongside Six Senses, Regent, InterContinental, Kimpton and Hotel Indigo.
