TMGOC Ventures has rebranded as Montford Group. The firm issued the announcement on 29 September 2026 from Boca Raton, Florida, and Hotel Business carried it on 30 September 2026.
The platform carries approximately $1.5 billion in existing investments and development pipeline, according to the firm, and more than 4,233 hotel keys across the United States.
The firm and the network
The firm describes itself as a private real estate investment firm specializing in hospitality. It invests across select-service, lifestyle and luxury hotels, and its stated capabilities span acquisitions, development, asset management, capital formation and structured investments.
Ownership, leadership team, investment philosophy and partner commitments carry over unchanged. Cofounders Sunju Patel and Glenn Alba manage the firm as managing partners.
The deal record
The firm’s own press index carries the transaction history behind the $1.5 billion. The most recent capital event is a $120 million bridge and preferred equity facility, co-originated with Access Point Financial on 20 August 2026, to recapitalize the dual-branded Fairmont and Element in downtown New Orleans for the Kailas Companies. The project is anchored by a 250-key Fairmont by Accor, a 216-key Element by Westin, Emeril’s Delmonico restaurant and 150,000 square feet of Class A office space.
The firm acquired the Bethesda North Marriott Hotel, a 455-key asset that extends its reach in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan market, on 1 June 2026.
The firm broke ground on The Ritz-Carlton hotel in Savannah, Georgia, on 10 February 2026. The historic Savannah Skyscraper is to be converted into a 168-room luxury hotel, the first Martin Brudnizki Design Studio project in the South.
Under the Montford Group name the firm states it will keep pursuing acquisitions, value-add repositionings, adaptive reuse, ground-up development and select structured capital opportunities.
What the cofounders say
“Montford Group represents the evolution of our firm, not a change in its foundation,” Patel said. “We have built this platform by combining an entrepreneurial approach to identifying opportunities with institutional discipline in how we invest, capitalize and execute.”
“As Montford Group, our focus remains the same,” Alba said. “We’re committed to disciplined investing, thoughtful capitalization and strong execution, working alongside our dedicated partners.”
The name reflects the firm’s roots in Charleston, South Carolina, where Patel began building his real estate platform. He and Alba first worked together on the development of Moxy Charleston Downtown before combining their platforms in 2022 to form TMGOC Ventures. Alba spent approximately two decades at Blackstone Real Estate, most recently as managing director, and took part in more than $10 billion of hospitality transactions and asset management.
The release names no fund vehicle, no committed capital and no investor list, and it publishes no portfolio-level performance figure. The $1.5 billion is the firm’s own statement of existing investments and development pipeline combined.
