Hotel Cala Books Through Hilton for a January 2027 Tampa Debut

Hotel Cala debuts in January 2027 at 200 North Ashley Drive as a 281-room Curio Collection by Hilton, with 10,000 square feet of event space across seven rooms and bookings routed to Hilton's own reservation engine.

The Debut and the Asset

Hotel Cala debuts in January 2027 on the Hillsborough River in downtown Tampa, the release dated 7 October 2026 states. The property carries 281 rooms including 16 suites across seven storeys, joins Curio Collection by Hilton, and takes the site of the former Hotel Tampa Riverwalk.

The property's own site puts the address at 200 North Ashley Drive. The same page lists Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park, the Tampa Museum of Art, the Straz Center, the Tampa Convention Center and Benchmark International Arena as neighbours.

How the Rooms Sell

Read on 14 October 2026, the property's site publishes no rate and no booking window. Its Book a Room control points to Hilton's own reservation engine with the property code TPARWQQ. The other paths on the site, /rooms, /stay and /gatherings, return 404.

Distribution therefore runs through Hilton's direct channel. Hotel Cala participates in Hilton Honors, and members earn and redeem points on stays, the release states. The site carries no third-party booking widget, and the group and leisure enquiry runs through the address and telephone number the site publishes.

The Group Inventory

The release measures the meeting space at 10,000 square feet indoors and outdoors across seven rooms, for up to 450 guests. The site's gatherings block takes group enquiries by email, with no availability search and no published rate.

Two Tao Group Hospitality venues sit inside the property. LAVO makes its Tampa debut with coastal Italian menus, house-made pastas and whole-grain pizzas, and BarOnda takes the waterfront setting with cocktails and small plates. Tao Group Hospitality co-chief executive officer Noah Tepperberg said the two venues give Tampa locals and visitors two distinct experiences along the Riverwalk.

The Ownership and the Design

Newbond Holdings develops the property with investment funds managed by an affiliate of Apollo, and Schulte Hospitality manages it. Rockwell Group led the design for the repositioning, with Italian marble, cream plaster, herringbone limestone and warm woods across the public areas, and fluted tile columns at the porte-cochere drawn from the cigar factories of nearby Ybor City.

Newmark arranged a $94.36 million refinancing for Newbond Holdings and Apollo in April 2026, with Bain Capital and Smith Hill Capital providing the financing.

Newbond Holdings founding partner Neil Luthra said the ownership group set out to create something that feels distinctly Tampa. "A new destination along The Riverwalk that brings together hospitality, dining and culture in a way that will give both visitors and locals a new reason to experience this part of the city," he said.

What the Release Leaves Open

The release carries no rate position, no booking window, no transaction value, no development cost, no management fee and no licence term. It names no street address. Pre-conversion listings for the same building carried 275 and 277 rooms, and the release counts 281.
