IHCL Signs 47 Hotels and Opens 20 in the First Half of FY2027
Indian Hotels Company signed 47 hotels in the first half of FY2027 and opened 20. The half covers April to September 2026. Hospitality Biz India carried the company statement on 12 October 2026.
Suma Venkatesh is executive vice president for real estate and development at IHCL. “With a strong momentum of 47 signings and 20 openings in H1 FY2027, IHCL is on track to achieve its guidance under Accelerate 2030 of a 700-hotel portfolio ahead of time,” she said.
The Portfolio Splits 390 Operating and 280 in Development
The statement puts the portfolio at 670 hotels. Of that total, 390 hotels are operating and 280 sit in the development pipeline. The two figures sum to the 670.
Accelerate 2030 is the group’s corporate growth strategy. Its target is a 700-hotel portfolio. The statement reports IHCL 30 hotels short of that number.
The Signings Split 19 Midscale to Six in Luxury
Venkatesh set out the segment spread of the 47 signings. Luxury took four Taj hotels, one Brij property and one Atmantan property. The midscale segment took 19 signings across Ginger and Tree of Life. Those 19 signings are 40 percent of the half’s total.
“With ten hotel brands, reflective of India’s heterogeneous landscape, IHCL’s H1 signings are well represented across segments from 4 Taj hotels, a Brij and an Atmantan in luxury to driving scale in the mid-scale with 19 signings in Ginger and Tree of Life,” she said.
The Openings Enter Six Indian Destinations
The 20 openings added hotels in Mumbai, Gurugram, Goa and Hyderabad. Six Indian destinations took a first IHCL hotel in the half. They are Kandla, Ayodhya, Tadoba, Kota, Bokaro and Jorhat.
Two openings sat outside India. Taj opened hotels in Frankfurt and in Kruger, in South Africa.
The Contract Mix Under the Growth
Venkatesh described the portfolio across owned and leased hotels and fee-based management contracts. “Driven by a diversified strategy across brands, markets and contract types, this growth underscores IHCL’s scalable and resilient hospitality ecosystem,” she said. “With a portfolio mix of capital-light and capital-heavy assets, IHCL drives sustainable and profitable growth through the operating leverage of owned and leased hotels and a growing high-margin fee-based business.”
What the Report Leaves Open
The report carries no month or year in which the portfolio reaches 700. It gives no schedule for the 280 pipeline hotels and no split of the pipeline by development stage.
The report carries no investment figure against the 47 signings.
