IHG Signs a 250-Key Crowne Plaza for New Cairo in 2031

IHG Hotels & Resorts has signed a management agreement with Kleek Development for a 250-key Crowne Plaza hotel in Sixth Settlement, New Cairo, scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2031.

IHG Hotels & Resorts signed a management agreement with Kleek Development for a 250-key Crowne Plaza hotel in Sixth Settlement, New Cairo. The company released the signing on 12 October 2026 from Dubai. The hotel is scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2031.

IHG signs it under Crowne Plaza, one of the brands the company files in its Premium group.

The Owner Side

Kleek Development is a joint venture between Emaar Al Delta for Contracting and Real Estate Investment and Modern Style Home Real Estate Company. Both partners appear in the release as the joint venture behind the development.

Eng. Hussein Dawoud, chief executive of Kleek Development, tied the project to the district’s growth. “We are pleased to partner with IHG Hotels & Resorts for Crowne Plaza New Cairo, a development that reflects our confidence in one of the capital’s most dynamic and fast-growing districts,” he said. “New Cairo continues to attract strong interest from residents, businesses, and visitors, and we see a clear opportunity to create a high-quality destination that responds to that momentum.” Dawoud named IHG’s global expertise and the strength of the Crowne Plaza brand as the basis of the partnership.

The Property and Its Commercial Configuration

The hotel will offer a mix of guest rooms and suites across its 250 keys. It will carry four dining venues. The release names a dining restaurant, a lobby lounge and a bar. The fourth venue goes unnamed.

Six meeting and event spaces will include meeting rooms and a dedicated ballroom. IHG puts the range of uses at strategy sessions through to celebrations. Leisure and lifestyle facilities will include a swimming pool, a fitness centre, a spa and retail spaces.

The hotel will sit inside a mixed-use corridor and will serve East Cairo’s business, commercial and residential communities. The release cites continued infrastructure investment, population growth and rising demand from domestic and international businesses behind New Cairo’s growth.

The Brand Platform: Plaza Workspace and WorkLife Room

Crowne Plaza New Cairo will incorporate two Crowne Plaza concepts. Plaza Workspace takes a fresh position on the traditional hotel lobby and lays out dedicated areas for guests’ personal and professional needs. The WorkLife Room gathers work, relaxation and sleep into distinct zones under one design.

Haitham Mattar, managing director for India, Middle East and Africa at IHG Hotels & Resorts, put the brand fit at the centre of his statement. “Crowne Plaza is particularly well suited to this market because today’s guests rarely separate work and downtime as they once did,” he said. He said guests want the flexibility to work, to connect with colleagues and to switch off inside the same stay. Mattar described the district in the same statement: “New Cairo is evolving rapidly, with continued investment in businesses, communities and infrastructure strengthening its position as an increasingly important commercial destination. That growth is creating new reasons to travel to this part of the city and, in turn, greater demand for high quality, internationally branded hotels that can serve both business and leisure guests.”

Egypt’s Position in the IHG Portfolio

IHG operates 10 hotels in Egypt and holds 28 in the country’s pipeline. Both counts appear in the release for this signing. The company calls Egypt a strategic growth market.

IHG runs 21 hotel brands and more than one million rooms across 7,100 hotels in over 100 countries, with a development pipeline of a further 2,400 properties. IHG One Rewards carries more than 160 million members.

Crowne Plaza sits in the Premium group with Noted Collection, voco, Ruby, HUALUXE and EVEN.

What the Release Leaves Open

The release gives no construction start date and no project cost. It also gives no opening month inside the first quarter of 2031. The 250-key count, the facility list, the owner structure and the Egypt portfolio counts are the project facts it carries.

The release states no duration, fee structure or performance term for the management agreement.
