What Opens in December 2026
The Indiana Convention Center's sixth expansion and the Signia by Hilton Indianapolis carry a December 2026 opening target on the venue's project page. The expansion adds 143,500 square feet. A 50,000-square-foot ballroom anchors the addition. The venue states the added space lets Indianapolis host two citywide conventions at once. A climate-controlled skywalk over Capitol Avenue links the hotel to the center's south campus and to Lucas Oil Stadium.
Hilton's topping-out release gives the hotel 800 rooms over 38 stories at 101 W. Georgia Street. The venue's project page and Visit Indy's new-developments page both print 803. The tower topped out on October 9, 2025.
The meeting inventory divides into three ballrooms. The Grand Ballroom measures 50,455 square feet and divides into 12 sections. A junior ballroom measures 15,668 square feet and a signature ballroom 9,000 square feet. Seventy suites run from 450 to 1,900 square feet. The venue counts seven dining options, a sky bar and Club Signia. Hilton's reservations release puts the hotel's meeting space close to 100,000 square feet across 42 rooms.
Two Published Opening Dates
Hilton's release of April 21, 2026 reads stays beginning December 9, 2026. The Capital Improvement Board's repost of the same date reads February 1, 2027. A distributor selling rooms into the first quarter of 2027 needs the operator's confirmation in writing before the inventory goes on the books.
The Pool a Block Reaches
Downtown Indianapolis holds 7,100 hotel rooms. The venue counts more than half of them within blocks of the center and 4,700 connected by skywalk. Hilton's topping-out release counts 12 connected hotels with more than 5,200 rooms at that stage. Visit Indy puts the connected block at 13 properties and 5,500 rooms once the expansion opens. The venue lists 200 downtown restaurants within walking distance and 15 minutes to Indianapolis International Airport.
The city owns the hotel through the Capital Improvement Board and Hilton operates it. The city took over the financing in 2023 with $625 million in hotel revenue bonds, after Kite Realty Group Trust reported it could not finance the tower privately. Visit Indy prices the full convention package at $710 million.
What the Calendar Has Already Booked
Visit Indy reports $1.3 billion in retained convention business and interest in $1 billion of new bookings, with groups holding space as far out as 2036. The American Society of Safety Professionals booked the Grand Ballroom for a general session of 10,000 attendees in June 2030. The venue projects 400 new hotel jobs and up to $232 million in new convention impact.
The autumn window at the center already runs dense. The venue's own event feed lists the MAPP Benchmarking and Best Practices Conference, ATD Core4 and ATD OrgDev across September 29 to October 1, and the Do it Best Corp. Fall Market from September 25 to 28.
Where the Rate Reads Now
Engine puts the Indianapolis average nightly rate at $128 across 1.2 million public rate observations from May 2024 to April 2026. February runs $107 and May $158. September, the month of that convention cluster, runs $117.
Marcus & Millichap's 1Q 2026 report forecasts central-business-district occupancy near 65 percent for 2026, the highest figure in the metro, against a modest year-over-year dip. The same report states the expansion and the connected hotel should improve the city's competitiveness for large conventions, with potential support for weekday occupancy and rate growth over time. HVS counted the added capacity in its September 8, 2025 downtown note and states it significantly boosts compression across the downtown hotel market.
No publisher carries a group rate floor, a minimum-stay rule, a shoulder-night rule or a day-use rate for the Signia. The hotel's sales office holds those terms at inddi-salesadm@hilton.com.
