Journey Beyond has appointed Jo Boundy as managing director of its Resorts & Lodges division. She starts on 9 November and will be based in Sydney. The hire places an executive from an airline accommodation channel over the company’s lodge and resort portfolio.
Travel Daily carried the appointment as breaking news on 17 September 2026 and published the report on 18 September 2026. Journey Beyond announced the appointment on its own media portal. Chief executive Chris Tallent is the source for the company’s position.
The Portfolio She Takes On
The division holds Journey Beyond’s resort and accommodation assets. The company names Ayers Rock Resort, Sal Salis, Monarto Safari Resort, Outback Spirit Lodges and the Kakadu Crocodile Hotel, and adds the incoming Kingfisher Bay Resort and K’gari Beach Resort on K’gari Island.
The company calls the division newly expanded. Travel Daily reports that the hire carries a remit to expand Journey Beyond’s property arm. Neither source publishes the division’s revenue or its trading history.
Her Background in Accommodation and Marketing
Boundy most recently served as chief marketing officer at Commonwealth Bank. Before that she was chief marketing officer for the Qantas Group and executive general manager of Qantas Group Hotels & Holidays.
Travel Weekly records both Qantas roles, and Journey Beyond’s own release names the Hotels & Holidays role. Mumbrella reports that she joined Commonwealth Bank in March 2022 as executive general manager and chief marketing officer, moving from Qantas.
Journey Beyond is an Adelaide-based experiential travel company, according to Mumbrella. Its businesses span rail journeys, cruises, lodges and tours.
Tallent on the Appointment
Tallent cited Boundy’s commercial and customer experience expertise, and her record of driving growth and leading high-performing teams. He named three outcomes for the division: more demand across Journey Beyond’s destinations, stronger guest and employee experiences, and long-term value across the division.
Boundy named three aims of her own. She said she will strengthen the company’s properties, create guest experiences, and keep building demand for its destinations.
The Appointments Around Her
Journey Beyond has made four senior appointments since May 2026. It named Jennifer Vandekreeke as managing director of experiences and attractions on 4 August 2026, and Vandekreeke was formerly chief executive of Carnival Australia.
The Vandekreeke hire followed a restructure Travel Daily reported in May 2026. The restructure moved Voyages Tourism Australia chief executive Matt Cameron-Smith into the chief commercial officer role, and promoted David Donald to managing director of rail and touring.
In July 2026 the company appointed Roland Ah Chee as its first general manager of first nations engagement and partnerships.
What the Reports Leave Open
Travel Daily published the property names, the start date, the Tallent quote and the surrounding appointments. The report did not state the size of the division, its revenue, or the reporting line Boundy will hold.
Nor did it state whether her division carries the rail and touring businesses that Donald now leads.
