Cape Town Office Opens Under Kucera
Aleph Hospitality opened a regional office in Cape Town. The company announced the decision on 18 September 2026 at the 17th Annual API Property Investment Summit.
The office runs the five South African hotels the group manages: Onomo Hotel Cape Town Foreshore, Onomo Hotel Cape Town Inn on the Square, Onomo Hotel Cape Town Waterfront, Onomo Hotel Johannesburg Sandton and Onomo Hotel Durban. Aleph states that it operates 15 or more hotels under four brands in more than 10 destinations across seven countries in East and South Africa.
Rob Kucera leads the office as Regional Vice President for East and South Africa. Aleph announced that appointment on 17 August 2026 and puts his remit at 25 or more hotels under six brands in 20 destinations across nine countries, plus the development of future hotels for the group. Kucera joined from Radisson Hotel Group, where he served as Complex General Manager and District Director for East Africa across Kenya, Rwanda, Ethiopia and South Sudan. He was general manager at the Westin Cape Town and at the Pearl of Africa Hotel in Kampala, and chief operating officer of the Hospitality Property Fund, the South African dedicated hotel REIT. He chaired the FEDHASA Cape board.
Aleph's 9 April 2026 release had named Cape Town among the regional offices it was setting up, alongside Casablanca, Abidjan and Nairobi, with Riyadh open.
The Supply and the Arrivals in the Operator Words
Bani Haddad, founder and co-CEO, tied the office to two numbers. "International arrivals reached a record 10.5 million in 2025, an increase of nearly 18 percent year on year, with over 4,000 hotels rooms in the hotel development pipeline," he said. He added that the office puts the operator closer to owners and investors and supports its growth across Southern Africa.
Those two figures carry the pricing case. Arrivals set the demand base for the country. The pipeline sets the new room supply arriving into that base. Haddad cites the pipeline total, and the release splits it by neither brand, city nor opening year.
Where the Portfolio Target Sits
Aleph set a new milestone in its April 2026 release: operating 100 hotels by the end of 2029, after reaching an earlier goal of 50 hotels by 2025. That release recorded more than 50 hotels in operation and over 30 properties in the pipeline across 23 countries and 39 cities.
The service scope on the operator site runs from site and brand selection through technical assistance and pre-opening to day-to-day operations, and its business development services list franchise agreement negotiations and brand development.
What the Announcement Does Not Carry
The release names no capital figure for the Cape Town office and no headcount. It does not say which South African markets the development pipeline targets, how many new management or franchise agreements are under negotiation, or the terms of the five Onomo contracts.
Four items stay open for owners and investors reading the announcement. They are the office operating budget, the first signed South African development agreement under Kucera, the dated opening schedule behind the 4,000-room pipeline, and the point at which Aleph expects the group to pass 60 hotels on the way to the 2029 target.
