ASCO GI 2027 Books San Francisco on a 5,190-Registration Base

The 2027 ASCO gastrointestinal cancers symposium runs 21 to 23 January at Moscone West. The 2026 edition drew 5,190 registrations, and the early booking deadline falls on 2 December 2026.

The meeting and its window

The 2027 ASCO Gastrointestinal Cancers Symposium runs Thursday 21 to Saturday 23 January at Moscone West in San Francisco. The organiser sells the meeting with in-person attendance and with online access.

Three registration windows set the price. The first closes on Wednesday 2 December 2026 at 11:59 p.m. Eastern. The second runs from Thursday 3 December 2026 to Friday 8 January 2027. The third begins Saturday 9 January 2027.

What the 2026 edition drew

The organiser's previous-meeting demographics page reports 5,190 registrations for 2026. Professionals came to 4,230.

In-person and online professionals came to 3,490. Online-only professionals came to 740. Exhibitors came to 770, and media and others came to 190.

The page heads its country list "Top Countries in Attendance in 2026". The United States leads at 2,610. Japan sits at 252, Canada at 152, China at 96, the United Kingdom at 80 and France at 73.

Medical oncologists make up 22 percent of the professionals who answered the role question. Clinical oncologists make up 15 percent, pharmaceutical marketing and sales 10 percent and researchers 8 percent. The page reports a 95 percent response rate on that question.

The housing deadline

The registration page sets the early registration deadline at 2 December 2026 at 11:59 p.m. Eastern.

The meeting's hotel page states that reservations received after 3 December are processed on a space-available basis and may be subject to a higher rate. The same page closes online reservations, changes and cancellations, and directs the guest to the hotel directly after that point.

Hotel cancellations must be made 72 hours before the arrival date to avoid a cancellation fee.

The registration page names SPARGO as the meeting's only official registration and housing provider.

The January rate climate

Engine pools public rate observations for San Francisco. Its city page reports an average nightly rate of $165 across 3.1 million observations made from May 2024 to April 2026.

The monthly table reads $166 for January, $129 for December and $197 for March. Three nights at the January figure comes to $498.

The same page places San Francisco 18th of 50 major U.S. markets on average nightly rate, 11 percent above the $148 median across that set.

Where the rooms sit

The Moscone Center's own FAQ states that over 20,000 hotel rooms sit within walking distance of the centre. The venue's Book an Event page states that more than two-thirds of the city's 34,000 hotel rooms sit within walking distance.

The venue publishes both counts on its own pages.

A revenue or reservations team planning around this meeting works from three fixed points: the 2 December deadline, the January city average of $166, and the January 2027 arrival window itself.
